Fun Isnt Sacrificed for Safety in This Innovative New Flotation Vest for Kids!
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – At last, a personal flotation device that your child will actually ask to wear. Fun in the sun joins forces with peace of mind to bring you the patented Puddle Jumpers™ personal flotation device (life jacket) for children. Designed and developed by Stearns, Inc., a leading manufacturer of water safety products for children and adults, the innovative Puddle Jumpers PFD bridges the gap between the water safety gear you want your children to wear and the gear they want to wear.
“We wanted a design that brought the fun back to children’s water play, while at the same time giving parents the security they desire,” says Mary Snyder, Stearns marketing manager. “We believe we’ve achieved that.”
Stearns has replaced the traditional sleeveless torso vest with a light and compact design that focuses on supporting your child’s upper arms and chest, offering far greater mobility and range of motion as your child plays. The Puddle Jumpers PFD is available in one of three bright colors, each splashed with a joyful cartoon face (kids can choose a ladybug, a frog or a sunfish design). In kid terms, this product is simply fun to look at and even more fun to wear. More important to parents, your child’s safety is not compromised. Puddle Jumpers PFDs deliver the same U.S. Coast Guard-approved standards for buoyancy and stability that accompany all Stearns® flotation products. In fact, the patented design offers even greater stability, providing extra confidence for your child as he or she enjoys the water. Puddle Jumpers PFDs are designed to be worn by children weighing 30 to 50 pounds.

National Partnership Award - Outstanding Supporters of Recreational Boating Safety
CITATION
For the period of April 1, 2007 through June 30, 2007, Stearns, Inc. worked in conjunction with Bass Pro Corporation and in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s National Marketing Group to develop and implement a national lifejacket promotion, called FIT TO FLOAT as part of the 2007 North American Safe Boating campaign. This promotion offered any person with a worn out lifejacket to exchange it for a discount towards the purchase of a new one at any participating Bass Pro retail store.
Stearns’ participation with this campaign resulted in 41 local live news media cut-ins, which reached over 1.2 million households in five key boating markets and a national live segment, which reached 1.8 million households nationwide with the United States Coast Guard’s Office of Boating Safety’s You’re in Command – Boat Responsibly message. Additionally, 34 local radio station interviews and 17 newspaper articles promoting correct PFD wear were aired and published respectively. Inside many of the participating 44 Bass Pro Shop retail stores numerous recreational boaters, many in the key sportsmen/angler target group, were provided information about how to correctly fit a PFD. As a result, over 1700 unserviceable and worn PFD’s were removed from public use through the Fit-To-Float Campaign. This promotion also exposed members of the boating public to available public education opportunities, the Vessel Safety Check program, and the America’s Waterway Watch program.
This entire outstanding campaign paid significant dividends in promoting recreational boating safety to a vast national audience and raised the image of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary significantly as a whole.
We thank Stearns, Inc. for their outstanding dedication and support of recreational boating safety. |
